The well-worn saying “Never Say Never” has acquired an ominous sound as the Jewish state continues poking every Islamic country in the world with unbending verbal bravado and her continuing attacks on non-combatant Palestinians, who have now acquired the role of training moving targets for IDF’s rampaging troops.
Domestic opposition to the Netanyahu regime is also growing, with Israelis now neatly divided between the “kill-them-all-and-do-not-ask-questions” and those, somewhat saner, citizens, who understand their country is sliding down a well-oiled chute leading straight into a global nuclear holocaust that’ll make Hiroshima and Nagasaki look like innocent scientific experiments.
What is happening now in Gaza is not simply an Israel-Palestinian question; it is a dangerous and unprecedented testing of international norms and diplomacy in blocking a deliberate holocaust of noncombatants that’s increasingly (and ironically) resembling Hitler’s Holocaust of European Jewry.
In an ironic reversion of roles Netanyahu’s Israel is now not-so-quietly assuming the Hitlerian “logic” of ethnic cleansing as the absolute imperative for the survival of the Jewish “homeland” carved out of Arab lands by the UN in 1947. This fact, visible with the naked eye, is naturally rejected by almost all Israeli commentators, who have found the perfect due cause to remind us how “Iran follows in footsteps of Imperial Japan, Nazi Germany, and Soviet Russia.”
One thing is unfortunately true: this time around the Islamic coalition opposing Israel won’t retreat and won’t hesitate to deploy its weapons (nuclear and otherwise) to full effect. This is a fact Western “peacemakers” have completely failed to include in their “peace-making” prevarications and, thus, are unable to work out “doable” compromises.
