Turkey, Ukraine, NATO, etc...
This won't end well... one way or another... unless West gets its bloody act together...
Those with their brain in the right place have argued since time immemorial neo- sultan Erdogan’s Turkey is a dagger pointed at the back of world peace.
But “international relations” and “strategic requirements” being what they are, Turkey continues, since time immemorial, to maneuver with (almost) complete insidious and malevolent immunity in favor of Islamist terrorism, Hitlerite expansionist theories, and masqueraded anti-Christian policies.
And then, in the latest twist of the global anarchy, Ukraine happened.
The rapid expansion of Putin’s “targeted” war, into a worldwide threat of a nuclear confrontation, presents us with the possibility of experimenting with The Unthinkable, established after Hiroshima, to the terrifying detriment of planet Earth and the chances of survival of the human race. And, despite this unbelievable turn of events, possibilities of a mutually agreed de-escalation and, perhaps, resolution of the mess, are diminishing with every passing day
From Erdogan’s perch, this impasse appears to be mana from Heaven.
Now, the regional bully and threat to global peace, “reasons” this is the perfect time for Islamic fundamentalist Turkey to impose on the West her urgent demands,
including reopening the gates for Ankara to obtain state-of-the-art Western armaments and cementing her imaginary role as one of the handful of global, or near-global, powers deciding the future of humanity.
This is where the West needs to demonstrate whether it has finally decided to deal with Ankara the way Ankara needs to be treated, viz. with a delicately gloved hand placed firmly upon Erdogan’s jugular, or allow the padishah to continue running circles around dithering Western capitals sweating over how NOT
to anger the Islamist neo-sultan.
But, before Turkey lovers, and self-appointed majorettes, hasten to warn we cannot tease the Turkish grand power with impunity, we should consider the following:
The Turkish economy is in tatters. Inflation is battering consumers as never before in living memory. One Turkish lira currently fetches 0.0628661 USD. Erdogan’s Islamist “economics” is at the heart of this burgeoning crisis and there’s no hope of the neo-sultan changing course any time soon.
Turkey’s attempted bullying of Finland and Sweden, over the latter’s already accepted request to join the alliance, has stirred an otherwise reluctant NATO to begin re-orienting its handling of Ankara toward using a firmer glove previously considered improbable and, to many, nay impossible.
Ole Joe’s pledge to Finland and Sweden to offer them the “full, total, complete backing of the United States” complicates the Erdoganist huckster’s poker game even further given the diminished chances of a change of US heart against the backdrop of relentless Turkish bullying of all and sundry.
Erdogan’s refusal to join Western governments in imposing sanctions on Russia, and indeed keeping Turkey’s door open to Russian interests and offering Putin an economic lifeline, isn’t gaining Ankara any friends in NATO capitals either.
Having said all of the above, we need to keep in mind that Turkish public opinion, whether pro or anti-Erdogan, continues to blame the West for causing the present Ukraine mess by consistently “bullying” Russia—not to mention “bullying” Turkey herself especially in regard of her “justified” efforts to conquer the Aegean Sea at the expense of giaour Hellas, which stubbornly refuses to recognize Turkey’s undisputed imperial “rights” over most of the Eastern Mediterranean.
These demands are shared by the Turkish opposition albeit without using Erdogan’s naked bullying of the naughty giaours. And Turkey’s “silent majority” seems disinterested to the fact the upper echelons of Erdogan’s administration are directly linked to terrorist and criminal networks.
The clock is ticking though and we should not slow down in battering Turkish warmongering with everything we’ve got without pause and/or remorse.
