News & the truth: Deep state's take
Jimmy dives into the bottomless pit of pernicious bamboozling
Digging into the news is my first order of the day even if my early morning hours are usually clouded by the blows of incurable disease. Back in my working days of seeking answers almost exclusively from newspapers, the digging was from difficult to grueling, especially if you were pressed by deadlines. Today, however, these obstacles have disappeared if, that is, you have progressed to the keyboard and a stable Internet link. Your main concern now is to choose wisely and with an eye for disinformation and/or out-and-out lies.
Separating the real stuff from often unreliable and plainly propagandistic sources is a perennial problem and it is up to your experience and trained eye to separate the chaff from the wheat. Fortunately, the online universe is slowly developing resources to help you navigate a cloudy realm that is home to a cornucopia of misleading and intentionally false information generated by both official and private “concerned” sources.
One such tool is the recently emerged Ground News aggregator which, for the price of a few €€ or $$, will deliver to your channel/email etc reliable analysis of possible bias of news resources you’re accessing in search of the “truth.”
If you’ve been in the business of digging into the news as part of your daily work, chances are you’ve already developed ways of catching the “scent” of bias and the “taste” of Goebbelsesque twist. Otherwise, tools like Ground News can offer a substantial degree of confidence in defending against “designer trash” designed to promote special interests seeking cover for their deleterious activities.
I’m giving Ground News a test run and will be reporting on my findings in due course.
